Anchorage Ky Real Estate
Anchorage KY homes have always been one of my favorite areas for a Sunday drive. The homes are just massive – and the winding roads will take me down past multi-million-dollar mansions and horse farms alike. Many people who’ve made their fortunes opt to settle down in Anchorage and upgrade to a more opulent estate here. We also see buyers coming from all around Kentucky for the highly rated elementary school and peaceful countryside lifestyle. Here are a few of the top reasons to move to homes in Anchorage KY, in my opinion…
There is great diversity in lot sizes and housing styles.
From Classic Federal to Gothic Revival, you will find that many of the historic housing styles from the late 1800s and early 1900s have been preserved. Home buyers can choose from stately old homes with character and history, or new construction estates carefully woven into the fabric of the existing neighborhood. Thanks to the direction of famed real estate developer Frederick Law Olmsted, the community took on a park-like setting in its earliest years, which you can still see today.
Anchorage KY has a very small-town feel.
The city center has its own City Hall, Fire Station, and Police Department, so it looks and feels like a small town of old. Quaint horse barns, white picket fences, stone walls, and rolling green hills give the Anchorage KY real estate market a unique charm of its own. Several small high-end boutiques are conveniently set up right in the center of town to cater to your needs.
Anchorage schools represent some of the best in the state of Kentucky.
Anchorage public schools spend $7,521 per student, compared to the national average of $5,691 per student. There are 12.5 students for every teacher, so kids get much individual attention. GreatSchools.org gives Anchorage Public Elementary School a perfect 10/10 score. Parents like that the school takes care of both gifted and special needs students, kids can walk to school, the leadership is great, and the school is consistently ranked top in the state.
Some of the largest homes with the most acreage can be found here.
Currently, there are over 700 properties with lot sizes of 1 acre or more. In fact, more than 300 properties have 5+ acres for sale. The estates may be 8,000 square feet or 17,000 square feet in size, giving buyers plenty of room to spread out and live the American Dream. Homes are built with privacy in mind here, which many people like.
This area has a reputation for beauty, wealth and prestige.
There are currently several million-dollar homes for sale in Anchorage. In fact, 10 to 15 percent of Louisville’s multi-million-dollar home sales take place in Anchorage. In the early 1900s, the wealthiest Louisville residents moved out to Anchorage to take advantage of the larger land plots. To this day, Anchorage KY has a reputation as one of the most high-end, prestigious parts of town.
